The VMAs 2026 losers: Sabrina, Ariana and Bruno Mars leave with little

Most of the top nominees fell well short; Harry Styles and Charli xcx went home with nothing.

With seven or more nominations, Sabrina Carpenter won only Best Editing (“House Tour”) and shared Best Collaboration with Madonna. She lost Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Album.

Ariana Grande also had seven nominations and took Best Visual Effects and Song of the Summer, both for “Hate That I Made You Love Me”. She skipped the ceremony, taking a break since her tour ended on September 1. Bruno Mars, with five to seven nominations depending on the count, won only Best R&B.

PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, with five nominations each, won only Art Direction. Gener8ion, up for Video of the Year, left empty-handed — as did Harry Styles, Katseye, Charli xcx and Tate McRae. Anitta lost Best Latin for the first time in her career.
