A few months before their July wedding, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce closed on a mansion in Bratenahl, a lakeside village on Lake Erie outside Cleveland, just north of Cleveland Heights, where Kelce grew up. The price is around $5 million — $5.35 million, according to The Cheat Sheet —, and the property spans about 21,140 square feet. According to the couple's planner, it was one of the largest sales in Cuyahoga County history.

Inside, there are eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, a gym, sauna, game room, home theater, bar, temperature-controlled wine cellar and a billiards and poker area. Outside, there's a heated pool, a bluestone patio and a restored two-bedroom gatehouse that serves as a guest cottage. The couple has already installed voice alarms that warn anyone who gets too close — even though the house is not yet their primary residence.

Security is what turned the mansion into a neighborhood saga. Bratenahl's Architectural Review Board unanimously approved a 6-foot black powder-coated aluminum fence — the original plan called for 8 feet — set about 2 feet inside the property line because of sewer lines. The plan to plant dozens of tall trees, however, upset residents: Katherine Bolton fears the roots could damage a 115-year-old sewer line, which she estimates would cost $75,000 to reline, and said the new owner is 'an absentee owner' who 'may decide to sell her house next year.' Another neighbor, Chuck Bauernschmidt, a resident of more than 39 years, objected to the removal of shrubs and worried deer could be impaled on the fence.

The couple's planner, Jacob Kutz, said they are seeking 'privacy and security.' To ease tensions, Swift and Kelce agreed to add a gate for Bauernschmidt and to have the sewer line cleaned, and the landscaping was approved on the condition that the trees have room to mature.
