'The View' host says she tried to set up Ben Affleck and Shakira through Matt Damon

Ana Navarro, co-host of ABC's 'The View', revealed on Monday (Sept. 28) that she once tried to play matchmaker for Ben Affleck and Shakira. The idea came up at one of the Colombian star's concerts in Miami, where she ran into Affleck's best friend Matt Damon and his family.

Navarro said the timing seemed ideal: Affleck had just split from Jennifer Lopez and Shakira was single after her breakup with Gerard Piqué. But Damon raised a problem: Shakira is friends with J.Lo. Navarro still pushed on air: 'I think Ben Affleck needs to give Shakira a call, and Shakira needs to give Ben Affleck a call.'

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said she wanted 'better for Shakira,' and Whoopi Goldberg urged caution about speculating on other people's love lives. Neither Affleck nor Shakira has commented.
