Waist-length hair cut off to play a boy on TV, 'Casi Ángeles' and Kylie Minogue at River: the story of Lali, who turns 35 with 6 Martín Fierro music nominations
Discovered by Cris Morena as a child, the Argentine star turns 35 on Saturday (Oct. 10) as a pop star, actress and fashion icon — four days before the country's biggest music awards.

Born in Buenos Aires on Oct. 10, 1991, she first appeared on TV in the young-talents segment of 'Caramelito y vos'. In 2003 she made her acting debut in Cris Morena's 'Rincón de Luz' as Malena, or 'Male', a girl who runs away from her abusive aunt, disguises herself as a boy and moves into a children's home. For the part, she cut off her waist-length hair. 'Floricienta' and 'Chiquititas sin fin' followed.
The turning point was 'Casi Ángeles', the 2007 teen soap that made her one of Argentina's most popular faces. As an adult, Lali appeared in 'Cuando me sonreís' and 'Solamente vos' and starred in 'Esperanza mía' (2015), a Pol-ka musical comedy, while launching her solo career with 'A bailar' (2014) and 'Soy' (2016). More than a decade later, her résumé includes a River Plate stadium show where she shared the stage with Kylie Minogue and appearances at the San Sebastián Film Festival.
For her birthday, Infobae broke down the style that became her trademark: coordinated, shiny stage sets, a base of black, metallics and patent leather, leather and tailoring with a nocturnal edge, a mullet and hair-color changes tied to each project. According to GQ, she helps design her own stage outfits and prefers loose clothes on days off. The celebration may continue: on Wednesday (Oct. 14), Lali competes at the Martín Fierro music awards in six categories, including Best Female Artist, Best Album and Best Live Show, in a head-to-head with María Becerra, also with six nods, and Tini, with five.
