The catchphrase belonged to Juarez Aparecido Pontes Fernandes, known as Juarez da TekPix, a TV pitchman who became a familiar face selling digital cameras in sponsored segments on Record, RedeTV! and SBT. He was found dead at his home in São Paulo on Friday (9). The cause of death has not been disclosed, and a cousin, Eloana Pontes, confirmed the news on social media.
His path began far from the cameras: Juarez sold products over the phone, and his performance caught the attention of the tech company he worked for, which decided to put him on air to present its gadgets. It worked — the digital camera and the catchphrase became a nostalgic memory for a generation. In 2019, on SBT's 'The Noite', he said he was proud to be remembered for the role.
In early 2024, he returned to TV on Sonia Abrão's 'A Tarde é Sua' on RedeTV!. That stint ended in January 2025, when the network removed him after an employee of the headquarters' cafeteria accused him of harassment in December 2024; according to Folha de S.Paulo, the alleged conduct involved inappropriate comments about her body. RedeTV! said at the time that 'every complaint is rigorously investigated.'
Since then, Juarez had kept a low profile: he had just over 3,000 Instagram followers and had not posted since February 2026. According to the website TV Pop, cited by Metrópoles, people close to him said he had been struggling with depression since leaving the network.
