'Karol G, unblock me, babe': promoting his song 'Vuelve', Anuel AA makes a public plea to his ex on Instagram — and fans smell a marketing stunt

Anuel AA used the rollout of his new single, 'Vuelve' ('come back' in Spanish), to send a not-so-subtle message to ex-girlfriend Karol G. In the caption of a series of photos posted on Instagram, the Puerto Rican artist wrote in all caps: 'Vuelve, Karol G, desbloquéame, bb. No es que yo sea un cuero, es que yo me enamoro profundamente' — roughly, 'Come back, Karol G, unblock me, babe. It's not that I'm a player, it's that I fall in love deeply.'

According to Infobae, many followers read the post as a promotional stunt for the song. It is not the first time Anuel has complained about being blocked: in 2023 he raised the issue, saying 'someone got jealous', which fans at the time linked to Feid, then the Colombian star's boyfriend. Karol G, Feid and Anuel himself have not commented on the new post.

The pair were one of urban music's most talked-about couples until they split in 2021. Days before the post, Karol G spoke on The New York Times' Popcast about 'Mañana Será Bonito', the album tied to her breakup with Anuel, and 'No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto', linked to Feid: 'The difference between the two albums is that there's a lot of growth in me.' Anuel's week also included photos of a night out in the Dominican Republic with ex-wife Yailin La Más Viral and his current girlfriend, Fabiana Buitrago.
