Sandra Hüller disguises herself as a soldier in the 'Rose' trailer, Austria's Oscar hopeful

The trailer for 'Rose' is out. The historical drama from Austrian director Markus Schleinzer stars Sandra Hüller ('Anatomy of a Fall', 'The Zone of Interest') and is Austria's official submission for Best International Feature at the 2027 Oscars.

Set during the Thirty Years' War, it follows a mysterious soldier who arrives in a German village claiming to be heir to an abandoned farm — in fact, a woman who lived as a man. Hüller won Berlin's Silver Bear for best leading performance, and the film was also honored at Telluride.

Awards-season prediction markets give the actress solid odds of a Best Actress nomination. 'Rose' opens in the US on December 11.
