LaKeith Stanfield replacing Anthony Ramos, James Wan hinting at a return to 'Saw' and 'Paranormal Activity' extended on Broadway: the hidden twists of BlumFest
Beyond the trailers, Blumhouse's New York Comic Con panel brought a lead-actor swap, a new director for 'Something Is Killing the Children' and a RoboCop series.
Trailers dominated BlumFest, Blumhouse's panel at New York Comic Con, but the juiciest news came between the lines. Director Rob Savage, whose 'Other Mommy' opened in theaters on Friday, brought out LaKeith Stanfield, of 'Get Out' and 'Atlanta', and announced he will lead 'Molepeople' — replacing Anthony Ramos, who had previously been attached. The film is set for release on Aug. 27, 2027.
James Wan, creator of 'Saw', hinted he could return to the franchise that launched him in 2004, according to HorrorFuel — for now it is only a hint, with no confirmed role; the next installment will be directed by Mike P. Nelson. Wan also teased a new RoboCop series, with no details released.
The panel, hosted by MatPat alongside CEO Jason Blum, also confirmed Craig Zobel ('The Hunt') as director of the feature based on the 'Something Is Killing the Children' comics, which will also become an animated series, and announced that MatPat will help adapt the game 'Amanda the Adventurer' for the big screen. To cap it off, the 'Paranormal Activity' stage play had its Broadway run extended through February 2027 due to demand.
