Paramount released the new trailer for 'Ebenezer' on Wednesday (Oct. 1), a reimagining of 'A Christmas Carol' directed by Ti West, the filmmaker behind the 'X,' 'Pearl' and 'MaXXXine' trilogy. Johnny Depp plays Ebenezer Scrooge, the miser visited by ghosts who force him to confront his own life.

West has said he preferred to treat the story more as a ghost story than as a Christmas movie, with spirits that are genuinely spooky. The cast includes Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley, Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present and Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, plus Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin and Daisy Ridley.

The U.S. trade press describes the film as Depp's first major Hollywood studio movie in eight years, and it is also a rare pairing of the actor with a horror director outside Tim Burton's world. It opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 13.
