Review: on 'La Falda,' Judeline makes the 'Amélie' accordion dance to reggaeton with flamenco handclaps, brings Rossy de Palma and Diego Calva into the video — and shows Karol G's 'Bby WOW' partner has a vision of her own
The Spanish singer's fourth single of 2026 blends Yann Tiersen, 2000s flamenco-pop and a nod to 'Jamón, jamón' in the video.
Foto: Billboard Argentina/DivulgaçãoAfter becoming the first Spanish woman to top Spotify's Global chart, with 'Bby WOW' alongside Karol G and Rusowsky, Judeline had two options: ride the reggaeton that took her to No. 1 or double down on the strangeness of her debut 'Bodhiria' (2024). 'La Falda,' released Friday (Oct. 9) and her fourth single of 2026 after 'Pequeñita' and 'Besito,' tries both. The foundation is a classic reggaeton kick, but running over it from start to finish is the accordion from Yann Tiersen's 'J'y suis jamais allé' — the theme the whole world associates with 'Amélie.'
On paper, it should sound like a playlist collage. In practice, the sample works because the Cádiz native doesn't treat it as a joke: the handclaps and backing vocals by Sara Corea, Sheila Paz and Laura Reyes pull the track toward the flamenco-pop of Las Chuches and Papa Levante, whom she cites as references, and the lyrics, co-written with Isaiah Beard and John Blanda, flirt with desire without needing to be explicit. The risk is that the song leans too hard on the borrowed melody: Tiersen's accordion is so recognizable that it threatens to swallow Judeline herself, and the rapped verses end up in the hook's shadow.
Jacob Parra-Mena's video is what lifts the package. With Diego Calva ('Babylon') as her partner, Dior wardrobe and an appearance by Rossy de Palma, Judeline recreates Julio Romero de Torres's painting 'La Primavera' in motion and brings back the Andalusian tension of Bigas Luna's 'Jamón, jamón' (1992). It is Spanish pop that knows where it comes from while speaking to the global market that embraced her as co-writer of four tracks on Karol G's album. It isn't the most immediate single of the year, but it is the most personal one of this Friday. Score: 8/10
