BTS win Song of the Year for “Swim” and take three VMAs without attending
The group also won Best K-Pop and Best Group — all off the live broadcast.
BTS won three categories at the 2026 VMAs: Song of the Year and Best K-Pop for “Swim”, plus Best Group. It is the first time a K-pop group has won Song of the Year.
That gives BTS a record fifth Best Group trophy and a fourth Best K-Pop, passing LISA’s three. “Swim” is from the album “Arirang”, released in March.
The group didn’t travel to Los Angeles, and all three categories were among the 17 handed out off the TV broadcast — an MTV decision that angered fans online. In October, BTS play three shows at MorumBIS in São Paulo.
