Norman Reedus wasn't even advertised, but he took the stage alongside Melissa McBride at AMC+'s New York Comic Con panel on Friday (Oct. 9) to present the home stretch of 'The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon'. The spinoff's fourth and final season, originally slated for 2026 and then delayed, premieres in February 2027 on AMC and AMC+, and got a first teaser. Reedus said the episodes are 'way sadder' and that Daryl and Carol's search for 'something to call home' is at the heart of the story; McBride grew emotional praising her co-star's work.

The pair crosses the ravaged badlands of Spain, where the speed and rage walker variants that emerged in France have now spread. Showrunner David Zabel confirmed those 'terrifyingly fast' walkers, seen in unreleased footage shown only to the panel audience, are back in force, as is the group Los Primitivos, now much larger. Jimmy Smits joins as Captain Alejandro Perkins, a former U.S. Navy officer and medical doctor, alongside Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Candela Saitta and Hugo Arbués.

As for the reunion fans have demanded for years, between Daryl and Rick Grimes, franchise chief creative officer Scott Gimple didn't close the door: he said the idea is 'absolutely, still a hope', if a challenging one, and that a future 'The Walking Dead' project could still happen.
