'My literal therapist': Taylor Swift crashes Dakota Johnson's 'SNL' monologue and brings a birthday cake at the end

A week after the 'Patient Zero' video, the singer made a surprise Studio 8H appearance and denied being her friend's shrink: 'You just show up at my house with an empty bottle of wine'.

Dakota Johnson hosted 'Saturday Night Live' for the third time on Saturday night (Oct. 3), the eve of her birthday, and saved the biggest surprise for her monologue. After joking about her history of dating musicians — which, she said, was 'saving you a lot of money on Zoloft' — the actress brought out her friend Taylor Swift, introduced as her 'literal therapist'. It was Swift's first appearance on the show since October 2023.

The singer played along and denied the title: she said Johnson simply shows up at her house once a week with an empty bottle of wine, flops on the couch and overshares, while she just replies 'damn, that's crazy', hands over electrolytes and calls her a ride home. When Johnson listed places tied to her exes, Swift closed with a dry 'allegedly'. The two just worked together on the 'Patient Zero' video, directed by Swift and premiered at the Sept. 27 VMAs, and the singer released an eight-minute version of the track on Apple Music that same Saturday.

For the rest of the night, Johnson appeared in sketches such as 'Press Your Luck', 'Mean, Scary Girlfriend' and 'Guns for Women', while Turnstile performed 'Birds' and a medley of 'I Care' and 'Dull'. During the goodnights, Swift returned to the stage with a cake to celebrate the birthday of the actress, who stars in 'Verity', the weekend's top movie at the US box office.
