Dakota Johnson turns 37 this Sunday (Oct. 4), a day after hosting 'SNL' and on the weekend 'Verity' tops the US box office. For a decade, the actress's most famous address was a 1947 house designed by architect Carl Maston in the hills above the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. She bought it in January 2016 from producer Ryan Murphy for $3.55 million, using her earnings from the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' franchise. It has about 3,210 square feet, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a library and an office on a 10,690-square-foot lot.

Renovated by studio Pierce & Ward, the house landed on the cover of Architectural Digest in March 2020 and became a meme thanks to the video of the actress with limes in her olive-green kitchen, with Carrara marble counters and a professional range. The home, which Johnson nicknamed the 'tree house', features glass walls, polished concrete, exposed brick, dark wood beams and paneling, a Wurlitzer piano in the living room, a pink bathroom with a freestanding tub, a skylit walk-in closet, a pool, a hot tub and a circular brick fire pit. In May, it was listed for $6 million.

Her new home is also in the Hollywood Hills: in October 2025, Johnson paid $5.3 million for a 1950s Mediterranean-style house with 3,550 square feet, three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, plus a guest apartment. Freshly renovated by studio Ome Dezin, it has wood-beamed ceilings, a primary suite with a fireplace and soaking tub, skylights, a pool, an outdoor kitchen, a glass meditation room and a small olive grove.
