David Harbour's bruiser Santa is back, and this time he isn't alone. At Blumhouse's New York Comic Con panel on Friday night (Oct. 9), fans saw the first footage from 'Violent Night 2', which is set in a shopping mall and hits U.S. theaters on December 12. The clip shows a comedic, gore-soaked fight inside a bakery — director Tommy Wirkola said he chose a kitchen brawl precisely for its comedy and action potential. 'It gets weirder and weirder,' Harbour summed up.

The big addition is Kristen Bell as Mrs. Claus, who gets her first on-screen moment and proves she can fight too. According to the actress, the character is much older than she looks, and the film will explore her elven history. Wirkola and producer Kelly McCormick insisted that, for all the carnage, the sequel keeps the heart of a Christmas movie.

The same panel doubled as a Blumhouse showcase, with the studio promising nine theatrical films next year, starting with Mike Flanagan's 'The Exorcist: Martyrs', whose trailer had its world premiere there. Among the announcements, YouTuber MatPat is partnering with the studio to adapt indie games, beginning with 'Amanda the Adventurer', pitched as 'Dora the Explorer meets The Ring'; 'Other Mommy' director Rob Savage will helm 'Molepeople', presented by Lakeith Stanfield; Ian Tuason will direct a new 'Paranormal Activity'; and a 'RoboCop' series starring Dan Stevens is headed to Prime Video. Jason Blum also revealed he cast the deciding vote for the title 'Other Mommy' over 'Other Mother'.
