Nicolas Cage didn't hold back on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At Fan Expo Dallas last Saturday (Sept. 27), the actor said the studio's early films 'started out terrific,' but that it's now hard not to think the MCU is becoming a 'well-funded and glorified WWE.'

What bothers him, he explained, is seeing actors over 50, 'otherwise intelligent, remarkably gifted,' putting on 'ridiculous outfits' and getting ready for the fight. By contrast, Cage noted that 'Spider-Noir,' his Prime Video series, leaned more on detective storytelling than on action sequences.

The remarks spread among fans and genre outlets this week. Cage, who played Ghost Rider in two films outside the MCU, saw 'Spider-Noir' canceled after one season in September and said at the time that one season was 'perfect' for him.
