$5 billion and 'borrowing money': what MrBeast's empire is really worth
The first YouTuber with 500 million subscribers runs chocolate, snacks and a digital bank, and says he's cash-strapped.

Both are true, and together they explain how the world's biggest YouTuber's machine works.
The audience numbers are unprecedented. MrBeast went from 100 million subscribers in July 2022 to 500 million in June 2026, the first creator ever to get there. Behind the channel sits Beast Industries, which raised $200 million in January 2026 at a $5 billion valuation. He owns a little over half. The portfolio includes Feastables chocolate, which had reached $250 million in sales and more than $20 million in profit by 2024, Lunchly snacks, MrBeast Burger and, most recently, Step, a Gen Z banking platform with more than 7 million users.
So why does he say he's broke? Because almost everything his media business earns goes back into ever-pricier productions. His fortune, estimated at $2.6 billion by Celebrity Net Worth, is tied up in company equity, not a checking account. In 2025 he was named the highest-paid creator, at $85 million. A bankruptcy rumor that went viral this year, with nearly 5 million views, started on a parody account and was debunked.
The empire has its shadows: in April, Beast Industries was hit with a workplace harassment lawsuit alleging gender bias, which the company denies, and on-set safety has been questioned. Off the clock, 2026 brought his beach wedding to content creator Thea Booysen in July and his debut as a shark on ABC's 'Shark Tank.'
