Play-In in Los Angeles, Swiss Stage in Texas and a final in Brooklyn: what FURIA and LOS are really playing for in Saturday's CBLOL final

Both sides have already locked in a trip to the League of Legends World Championship, but Saturday's (Oct. 10) CBLOL final in Rio de Janeiro still carries plenty of weight. According to EarlyGame, the winner between FURIA and LOS goes straight to the Swiss Stage, while the runner-up drops into the Play-In, a four-team bracket that only one team survives. This is the first time Brazil has a second Worlds slot, and that second seed is the one sent to the qualifier.

The Play-In runs in Los Angeles from Oct. 15 to 18 as a double-elimination bracket with best-of-five series. The Brazilian team will face a field of Cloud9, Karmine Corp and MVK Esports, the third seeds from the LCS, LEC and LCP. Insider Gaming reports that the draw for this stage takes place right after the CBLOL final ends, meaning the runner-up will learn its opponent on the same day it loses.

Whoever makes it through meets the elite in the Swiss Stage, Oct. 23 to 31 in Allen, Texas: five rounds of best-of-one and best-of-three matches, where three wins advance a team and three losses send it home. Heavyweights such as T1, Gen.G, Hanwha Life, Bilibili Gaming, Anyone's Legend and G2 Esports are waiting. Draws for that stage are scheduled for Oct. 18, 23, 24, 26 and 30.

The knockout stage, all best-of-five, runs Nov. 3 to 14 with matches in Allen and in Brooklyn, New York, which hosts the grand final. Recent history favors FURIA: it beat LOS 3-1 in the first split final and reached this decider after a 3-0 sweep of LOUD.
