Valorant's world championship in Shanghai turned into a nightmare for the hosts. On Friday (Oct. 2), EDward Gaming and JD Gaming fell in the group-stage elimination matches, completing the exit of all four Chinese representatives a day after TYLOO and Xi Lai Gaming were also knocked out. Going into the day, China had won just one map and no series at the event.

JDG tied the series against T1 with a 13-3 rout on Abyss, but dropped Lotus (13-11) and Haven (13-5). EDG, swept by LOUD in its opener, lost 2-0 to Global Esports, 13-5 on Summit and 13-6 on Sunset. The day before, TYLOO had claimed China's first map of the tournament before falling 2-1 to Team Liquid.

Global Esports' win sets up Brazil's next test: LOUD, beaten by Vitality in the winners' match, faces the Indian side on Sunday (Oct. 4) in a best-of-three decider. The winner reaches the Champions playoffs; the loser's 2026 season is over.
