No. 108 and an unwanted first: TUIDE becomes HYBE's first girl group whose debut song missed Melon's Top 100

Compared with LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans and ILLIT, the K-pop giant's new group fell short of the chart, and Korean netizens split between blaming promotion and identity.

TUIDE, HYBE's newest girl group — from the company behind BTS — has carried an unwanted label since Friday (Oct. 9): the first girl group from the label whose debut song failed to enter the Top 100 on Melon, South Korea's leading streaming platform. The track peaked at No. 108, while the debuts of labelmates LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans and ILLIT cleared the cutoff comfortably.

The figure sparked debate in Korean online communities. Many netizens said they like the song, called the hook catchy and were disappointed by the result — one said they discovered the group through a short-form video. Others pointed to 'average' stage presence and dancing, a concept that doesn't stand out and no member who grabs attention. Promotion also split opinion: some think the group lacked exposure, others say they see its ads too often.

Some urged patience, noting that the members are young and debuted without the pre-debut buzz of other rookies. The group's recent résumé suggests the story is just beginning: a month after debut, TUIDE was named Billboard's K-pop Up & Comer for September, and on Friday it kept up promotions, performing 'Echo' on 'Music Bank.'
