The song Piero wrote about a father became Piero's own farewell. On Thursday night (Oct. 8), around 8 p.m., relatives and friends gathered at a funeral home in Buenos Aires's Belgrano neighborhood sang 'Mi viejo' together, led by the singer's son, Juan de Benedictis.

His granddaughter Ámbar de Benedictis was also at the wake. According to Infobae, the song 'Sinfonía inconclusa en la mar' held special meaning for her. Among the tributes, TV host Marcela Tinayre called the singer 'a true gentleman.'

Piero died in the early hours of Wednesday (Oct. 7), at 81. The funeral procession was scheduled to leave on Friday (Oct. 9) at 11 a.m. local time for Recoleta Cemetery, one of the Argentine capital's most storied burial grounds.
