In an interview on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' that aired on Friday (Oct. 2), the former Beatle said he performed 'I Want to Hold Your Hand', the band's 1964 classic, at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's celebration. According to him, the song choice wasn't his: it was the bride's own request.
McCartney added a behind-the-scenes touch when he recalled what he told the singer. 'It was her request, and 'cause she was onstage, I said, you should sing along. And you should sing it to your man, Travis!', he said, drawing laughs. British press noted it remains unclear whether Swift actually shared vocals with him. The wedding took place on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York, with more than a thousand guests, according to the Express & Star.
The musician's bond with pop's new generation is nothing new. In May, on BBC Radio 2's 'Tracks of My Years', McCartney praised Swift ('she's very good, she's very clever') and said he feels like 'the older brother, or more like the granddad' of that crowd. He also said he met Swift, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter at a party hosted by his wife, Nancy Shevell, and his daughter, designer Stella McCartney.
