WINNER's Mino gets suspended sentence and could face 102 more days of military service
A Seoul court gave the rapper one year in prison, suspended for two years, over absences from alternative service; the ruling can be appealed.
Foto: Xportsnews/The Korea TimesThe Seoul Western District Court sentenced WINNER's Mino (Song Min-ho) to one year in prison, suspended for two years, for violating South Korea's Military Service Act. The first-instance ruling is not yet final.
Prosecutors say the rapper was absent without valid reason for 102 of roughly 430 required workdays during his alternative service as a social service agent in Seoul's Mapo District, between March 2023 and December 2024. The official supervising him received a 10-month sentence, also suspended for two years.
There may be an extra chapter: a Military Manpower Administration official said that, if the ruling becomes final, Mino will have to serve again for the days he missed — another 102 days.
