An Alexa-guided museum, a kids' zone designed by her sons and €750 VIP areas: inside the stadium-city Shakira built in Madrid, now adding a 13th show

Amid strong demand, the Colombian star added one final date, October 12, to her Macondo Park residency, which closes the highest-grossing Latin tour ever.

Shakira didn't rent a stadium in Madrid: she built one. Macondo Park sits on the Iberdrola Music grounds in the Villaverde district, on a site Spanish outlets put at anywhere from 150,000 to nearly 200,000 square meters, with room for roughly 50,000 to 55,000 people a night. Inspired by the magical realism of García Márquez's 'One Hundred Years of Solitude', the complex has eight pavilions, each color-coded to guide fans, and colorful arches at the entrance. Construction began in August, and the residency opened on September 18.

Inside are a museum of the singer in an orange pavilion, with an interactive route where Alexa acts as the guide, a replica of the library Shakira keeps at home, a fashion area with Latin brands and 'Macondito', a kids' space designed by her sons. Food is by Mexican chef Roberto Ruiz, with cochinita pibil tacos and marlin tostadas, plus an 'infinite table'. The Terrace and Garden VIP areas, styled like airport terminals, run to more than €750 per person, and a pink tent hosts guest acts such as Nathy Peluso and Amaia.

The residency closes the 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' tour, billed as the highest-grossing ever by a Latin artist, and its first 12 dates had an estimated economic impact of €200 million. Citing 'high demand', the promoter announced on Monday (Oct. 5) a 13th and final show on October 12, with presales opening Tuesday (Oct. 6). Before that, Shakira still takes the Macondo stage on October 9, 10 and 11.
