A handwritten jacket, no caption and one pointed tag: Lorde wades into the Ed Sheeran-Macklemore feud and needles Robert Kraft

The New Zealand star posted a photo in a 'Free Palestine' jacket she wore at Austin City Limits and tagged a fan page for the owner of the stadium that dropped Macklemore.

Lorde is the latest artist to weigh in on the controversy rocking Ed Sheeran's 'Loop' tour. On Tuesday (Oct. 6), the New Zealand singer posted a photo of herself in a one-of-a-kind white jacket with 'Free Palestine' written at the hem and what appears to be her own handwriting across the fabric. She wore it at Austin City Limits two days before the post. There was no caption — only a tag for '@mr.robertkraft,' which NME describes as a fan page for Robert Kraft, owner of Gillette Stadium and the New England Patriots.

The jab has a clear target. Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran's tour after a speech calling for a 'free Palestine,' which Kraft called 'deeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community'; P!nk and the Israeli American Council also criticized it. Sheeran's band and other support acts then left the tour in solidarity with the rapper. Sheeran said he was 'not complicit,' said he was 'appalled' by the Israel-Palestine conflict, and later apologized for 'making mistakes.' Kraft also said the singer asked him to match a $2 million humanitarian donation.

Macklemore, for his part, donated the $1 million he would have earned on the tour to six Palestinian-support organizations and announced a sold-out 'Free Palestine Tour.' Sheeran's Gillette shows were ultimately canceled due to severe weather warnings, but the stadium became a stage for statements: Zach Bryan performed there in a 'Free Palestine' shirt. Greta Thunberg, Massive Attack, Roger Waters, Tom Morello and Bob Geldof have also spoken out. Lorde, who released 'Virgin' in 2025, offered no comment on the post beyond the tag.
