Silk, pearls and a crystal corset made in ten days: behind the scenes of Lali and Tini's wedding dresses at River
Designer Verónica de la Canal, who has dressed both singers since childhood, revealed how she created the looks for the moment that brought the stadium down, inspired by Madonna, Britney and Christina at the 2003 VMAs.
Foto: InfobaeThe moment Lali and Tini appeared in wedding dresses on the River Plate stage, at the close of Lali's tour, involved a race against the clock behind the scenes. In an interview with the streaming show 'Despierta la Casa', Argentine designer Verónica de la Canal said both gowns were finished in about a week to ten days, according to Infobae.
Each piece was designed around the personality of the woman wearing it. Lali's dress, the first one commissioned, used white natural silk brocade with silver threads and a chantilly lace corset embroidered with crystals, with garter-belt details nodding to bridal lingerie. Tini's combined natural silk, pearl-embroidered silk shantung and ivory silk brocade, with a voluminous tulle skirt for movement on stage.
There was also a costume trick: the outer layers of both dresses came off quickly, revealing the corsets and transforming the look mid-number. The scene, which also featured Marilina Bertoldi, was a direct reference to the historic performance by Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 VMAs: the three sang 'Like a Virgin', shared a kiss that drew applause from the crowd and segued into '1Amor'.
For the designer, the moment was personal. Verónica recalled that she has worked with both singers since they were very young and summed up how she felt as the stadium erupted: 'It felt magical.'
