From his 'last album' to a HYBE boy band: Enrique Iglesias releases 'Ooh Laka Laka La' with Santos Bravos

The bilingual song dropped on Friday (Oct. 9), born after the Spanish star and the group sang 'I Like It' for more than 100,000 people in Monterrey.

Enrique Iglesias, who in 2024 called 'Final (Vol. 2)' his last album, keeps putting out music — this time with a boy band built on the K-pop model. 'Ooh Laka Laka La', his collaboration with Santos Bravos, hit streaming services on Friday (Oct. 9). Bilingual, mixing English and Spanish, the danceable track is about a relationship that can swing from calm to chaos in an instant. As for the title, the singer said it 'has no literal translation': it's meant to be felt through music and movement.

Santos Bravos are five: Drew Venegas, Alejandro Aramburú, Gabi Bermúdez, Kenneth Lavíll and Brazilian Kauê Penna. The group was assembled by HYBE Latin America, the Latin arm of BTS's company, through a development program modeled on the K-pop trainee system: 17 performers from an international audition went through six months of intensive preparation. They debuted with '0%' before 10,000 people at Mexico City's National Auditorium, followed by 'Fe', 'Velocidade', 'KAWASAKI' and 'MHM'.

The partnership was born on stage: on June 28, Enrique and the quintet sang his 2010 hit 'I Like It' together for more than 100,000 people at Monterrey's Parque Fundidora during the FIFA Fan Festival. 'Working with Enrique Iglesias has been an incredible experience,' the group said. Credits and music video plans were not disclosed.
