Recorded on the tour bus and in hotel rooms: Dominic Fike's album, promised for today, shows up with a new date — October 30

'How To Quit Smoking', the third album from the 'Babydoll' singer, was announced for October 9, but Apple Music now lists it as a pre-release for the end of the month; there is no official statement about a delay.

Anyone who woke up this Friday (Oct. 9) expecting to hear 'How To Quit Smoking', Dominic Fike's third studio album, found a different date instead. Announced in August by Columbia Records for October 9, the record appears on Apple Music as a pre-release set for October 30, with 15 tracks listed. Lyrics sites tracking the project have also switched to the end of the month. As of this writing, neither the singer nor the label had officially explained the change, so the delay should be treated as unconfirmed.

The album has an unusual premise: according to Columbia's announcement, it is being written, recorded, filmed and released 'in real time' during the North American 'Comedy Tragedy Parody' tour, in hotel rooms, on the bus and backstage before shows. The process is documented live on the @separatestreet account. Two singles are out: 'Wallflower', released August 28 with a video shot in Asheville, North Carolina, and 'Small Town', released September 18, filmed between Detroit and Seattle and featuring vocals from Emma Ogier and Gabriel Jacoby.

It is the best stretch of Fike's career so far. 'Babydoll', a 2018 track, resurfaced this year after he started performing it for Australian crowds, hit No. 1 on Spotify's global and US charts, passed 2 billion streams and entered the Billboard Hot 100 eight years after release. 'How To Quit Smoking' will be his first studio album since 2023's 'Sunburn' — and if the new date holds, fans have three more weeks to wait.
