'The best algorithm humanity has ever had is a kiss': Daddy Yankee announces 'La Postal,' his first concept album, with 15 tracks and Punjabi flavor

Daddy Yankee on Friday (Oct. 9) announced 'La Postal,' his 13th studio album and the first concept record of his career. Its 15 tracks deal with love in several forms — romantic, family, self-love and even his bond with Latin music — blending reggaeton with Afro-Caribbean rhythms and Punjabi influences. The album arrives October 30 via DY Music. 'A postcard says something a text can't,' the Puerto Rican star explained.

Lead single 'BOTZ,' short for 'Bésame Otra Vez' ('Kiss Me Again'), came out the same day and opens the album. It was co-written with Keityn and produced by Jeremy Ayala, L.e.x.v.z., DUP and Xound. The video, directed by STILLZ, uses stop-motion of real couples moving toward a kiss. Ahead of the release, he handwrote in a notebook that 'a new season' would begin Friday and summed up the idea: 'The best algorithm humanity has ever had in all its history has always been a kiss.' He says the song taps into his 'purest reggaeton roots.'

The news comes four years after Daddy Yankee announced at Puerto Rico's Coliseo in 2022 that he was retiring from music to devote his life to religion — he already released 'Lamento en baile' in 2025. On November 11 in Las Vegas, he will be honored as the Latin Recording Academy's 2026 Person of the Year during Latin Grammy week.
