This year the author himself joined in. Mano Brown recorded his own take on the meme to celebrate singer Cidy Ferreira, whose birthday falls on that date.
In the clip, the rapper swaps the rest of the line for 'it's my girl's birthday!'. Cidy shared the recording saying she had 'completed the trend' with the boss himself talking about her birthday, and thanked her idol for the gesture. According to news site TMC, the video approached 1 million views within hours.
Released in 1997 on the album 'Sobrevivendo no Inferno', the song grew out of Mano Brown's conversations with Jocenir, a former inmate of São Paulo's Carandiru prison. The date in its opening line has turned the track into the internet's sentimental calendar, and it trends again every year on the same day.
