'Rubí' heartthrob delivers a telenovela slap to a content creator on the 'slap meter', and the video goes viral in Mexico

It looked like a fight, but it was straight out of a telenovela. Mexican actor Eduardo Santamarina, known for 'Rubí' and 'El Señor de los Cielos', took part in the 'cachetómetro' ('slap meter'), a viral bit, with content creator Uriel Noguez in a video for the Instagram account of Televisa's Las Estrellas channel.

Before the blow, Santamarina warned him: 'You wanted to get into this mess.' He then slapped him, pulled him by his clothes for a few seconds, and both burst out laughing. The actor joked that kisses and slaps are classic ingredients of the network's melodramas.

According to El Heraldo de México, the video, posted on Saturday (Oct. 3), drew mixed reactions: many praised the pair's acting chops, while others simply enjoyed the humor. The paper stresses it was a staged joke, not a real assault.
